Interactive Dashboard
An interactive dashboard to track KPIs; allowing the user to easily dive into their own data to find what is working, and what is not
Getting an outside consultant to take a look at your numbers and give new perspectives and ideas is great, but often it’s an expensive one off. Meanwhile, getting regular analysis from a business developer or analyst for ongoing business insight is not without considerable expense and is often overkill. Enter the custom dashboard. Combining the fresh eyes of an outsider with the ongoing analysis of expanding the team, but without the extra mouth to feed.
Below is a dashboard I made for my business partner after selling my shares. The dashboard allowed him to easily do the lion’s share of data analysis that I had been doing. The dashboard updates as frequently as he wants, uses machine learning models to make predictions, and allows him to dive as deeply as he needs to in order to answer strategy driving questions; ongoing tailored business insight with no coding or data manipulation from him.
To better understand the dashboard it is important to know that the company is an online subscription platform. Retention (churn) of subscribers is a big KPI, as is average accumulated net profit over time (how profit does a subscriber bring after X months?). This second KPI is compared with average cost per acquisition (CPA) of marketing campaigns in order to 1) gauge ROI and 2) ensure profitable growth is pursued. However, not all demographics behave the same - perhaps a campaign with a very high CPA actually has a much higher ROI than one with a lower CPA. To know this, the customer segments must be looked at in detail. The video below is a quick tour of how the dashboard allows him to do so.
You can find the code and data (scrambled) used to create this dashboard here.
